Before We Forget – elsewhere cafe (Taipei)

在遺忘之前 – 生活在他方 (台北)

2017

Before Forgetting” focuses on the old-style buildings known as “tong lau” in Hong Kong, which have
either disappeared, are about to disappear, or still remain. It aims to immerse readers in their stories.
The series was published monthly as a column in the free art publication “Triangle.”
It’s observed that every now and then, buildings in Hong Kong with historical and conservation
value are earmarked for demolition. A group of dedicated individuals fights tirelessly to preserve
them, albeit with little success. The government often opts for preserving only the exterior shells,
disregarding their historical significance, rendering the preservation efforts meaningless.
